Pricing

The 2026 Model 3 RWD starts at an MSRP of $36,990 ($38,630 including $1,640 in destination fees), which is very competitive.

The 2026 Model 3 Premium RWD starts at an MSRP of $42,490, plus destination fees. The Premium AWD is $5,000 more expensive than the Premium RWD.

2026 Model 3 Performance starts at an MSRP of $54,490.

Battery and Range

The base Model 3 is available exclusively with a single-motor rear-wheel-drive (RWD) powertrain.

Tesla does not report battery capacity for its vehicles, but it’s believed that the entry-level RWD version has less than 70 kWh. The other three versions feature a higher-capacity battery, probably just under 80 kWh.

The Premium trim is available with either a single-motor RWD or a dual-motor AWD powertrain. The top-of-the-line Performance version is available only in the AWD setup.

The 2026 Model 3 offers 300+ miles of EPA range, which is an outstanding starting point. The maximum value is 363 miles (for the Premium RWD version), though the exact number varies by trim and wheel size.

The entry-level Model 3 RWD is rated at 321 miles of range. The Premium RWD version, with a slightly higher-capacity battery, has about 13% more EPA range: 363 miles. A switch to Premium AWD cuts the driving range by almost 5% to 346 miles. Additionally, the switch to larger wheels always slightly reduces range.

The Model 3 Performance has a 309-mile range, or 15% less than the longest-range Model 3 Premium RWD.

Energy Consumption

According to available EPA energy consumption ratings, the Model 3 RWD delivers 4.12 miles/kWh, the Tesla Model 3 Premium RWD delivers 4.1 miles/kWh (roughly 246 Wh/mile), while the Premium AWD is slightly behind at 3.8 miles/kWh (roughly 263 Wh/mile).

The Performance version, with its dual-motor setup and larger wheels, consumes noticeably more energy: 3.4 miles/kWh (296 Wh/mile).

Charging

The 2026 Model 3 features a NACS charging port for AC and DC fast charging.

AC Charging

The Model 3 Premium and Performance (the versions with larger batteries) feature an 11.5-kW onboard charger, so an 11.5-kW (up to 48 amps at 240 volts) home charging station installed on a 60-amp circuit is sufficient to fully utilize their performance. At full power, the car should be fully recharged in roughly eight hours.

The entry-level Model 3 RWD features a 7.7-kW onboard charger. A 7.7-kW home charging station (up to 32 amps at 240 volts) installed on a 40-amp circuit would be sufficient for this version.

DC Fast Charging

• Model 3 RWD: up to 225 kW
• Model 3 Premium RWD/AWD and Performance: up to 250 kW
