LASALLE COUNTY (25News Now) – Illinois State Police are reporting the discovery of more than 5,800 pounds of marijuana and the arrest of two Chicago area men during a traffic stop near LaSalle.
A trooper with ISP’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Bureau stopped a semi shortly after 11:30 Friday morning on eastbound I-80.
State Police said they found “multiple” pallets of suspected cannabis and cannabis products during a search of the semi.
ISP did not reveal in the news release the estimated street value of the marijuana, but it likely is worth millions of dollars.
Authorities released a pair of photos of what troopers said they found in the truck.

Mahmoud B. Barzouk, 41, of Norridge and Haed O. Samham, 45, of Harwood Heights were taken into custody without incident, said State Police.
Both men were taken to the LaSalle County Jail for cannabis trafficking, which is a Class X felony.
