General Motors President Mark Reuss has been selected to receive the 2026 Industry Leader Award in OEM from the Automotive Hall of Fame. Lear is presenting the award, which recognizes Reuss for his work in automotive engineering, product development, manufacturing, and leadership at GM.

The Automotive Hall of Fame will present the award on September 29^th during the Automotive News Global Congress at The Department at Hudson’s in Detroit. Lear President and CEO Ray Scott will present the honor to Reuss. The two executives will then join Crain Communications President and CEO KC Crain for a fireside chat covering automotive leadership, industry transformation, innovation, and the future of the industry.

The Industry Leader Award has previously recognized executives, including former Ford CEO Alan Mulally, former Toyota chairman Fujio Cho, former Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche, and former Renault-Nissan Alliance executive Carlos Ghosn. The Automotive Hall of Fame established the award to recognize leaders whose work has had a significant effect on the automotive industry.

“Mark Reuss represents the kind of leadership this award was created to recognize,” said Automotive Hall of Fame President Sarah Cook. She cited his engineering background and his role in guiding GM through major changes, including his influence on the automaker’s products, performance, and manufacturing operations.

Reuss credited the people around him for his career accomplishments.

“It’s not only a tremendous honor to be recognized alongside some of the industry’s true icons, but it’s also a testament to the great people I’ve worked with for so long at GM,” Reuss said. “We win – and have always won – as a team, and any success I’ve had in my career is a direct result of the success of the team.”

Scott also praised Reuss, citing his “drive, passion for great products and bold leadership.”

Reuss joined GM in 1983 and has held numerous engineering, product development, and management positions during his career. He became president of GM in 2019, placing him among the company’s highest-ranking executives. His current role spans GM’s global automotive operations as the automaker manages a changing vehicle market, new propulsion technologies, and evolving manufacturing strategies.

The September 29^th presentation will add another distinction to Reuss’ long career at GM while giving him an opportunity to discuss the industry’s direction alongside two other prominent automotive executives.
