New images and video of the 2027 Ford Fathom electric pickup truck have emerged. The $30,000 electric truck will be fully revealed next year.

While still heavily camouflaged, we can see that the 2027 Ford Fathom will have a fairly conventional pickup truck look. From these images, nothing stands out as out of the ordinary for a pickup truck-like appearance.

Yes, the camo may mask some of the finer details, but the general shape of the Fathom certainly reminds us of a conventional truck.

The Fathom, priced at around $30,000, will be among the most affordable electric vehicles when it launches next year.

The Ford Fathom electric truck will come well-equipped and start at under $30,000. The Fathom will fully debut in 2027, with deliveries scheduled to begin later in the year.

It will be the first vehicle built on Ford’s new Universal EV (UEV) platform, and as promised, the starting price is just under $30,000.

Pricing

The Ford Fathom will start at an MSRP of $28,350, in line with the $30,000 target set in 2025. After including the $1,595 destination charge, the minimum cost is $29,945. The Fathom may be priced slightly higher than the Slate electric truck (the Slate Truck starts at $24,950 plus an unknown destination fee), but unlike the Slate, the Fathom will come well-equipped even in base form. The Slate truck is about as bare-bones as it gets, so options will quickly increase its price.

Additionally, a base Slate has only two doors and seats two. The Fathom, on the other hand, will have four doors and seating for five.

According to Ford, the Fathom will have many tech features. Every Fathom will be BlueCruise-capable with integrated Apple Maps. All Fathoms will be Apple CarPlay- and Android Auto-capable and feature a large, high-resolution touchscreen. A digital car key and bi-directional power capability (power export) will be included, too.

Ford says that this $28,350 price is for a Fathom with a “standard-range battery.” This suggests there will be another (higher-capacity) battery option, although there are no details on such a version at this time.

Pre-orders will open in early 2027 alongside the full vehicle reveal. Customer deliveries are planned to begin later in 2027.

Body Form

The Ford Fathom will be a mid-size electric pickup truck, but Ford says it won’t look much like a traditional truck such as the Ford F-150.

The Ford Fathom is the first EV based on Ford’s new Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform and the first built using Ford’s new assembly tree manufacturing process at the Louisville Assembly Plant. It’s designed for affordability.

Ford adds that the 5-seat cabin will offer more interior passenger space than a Toyota RAV4. The Fathom will have a frunk (front trunk). The bed size is not yet known.

Battery and Range

The Ford Fathom has a 400-volt LFP battery system and 48-volt auxiliary electrical architecture. The truck features a cell-to-pack battery system (no modules), with prismatic battery cells being structural elements of the vehicle

The entry-level version will be equipped with a Standard Range battery, so we believe that there will be a Long Range option (a higher-capacity LFP or NMC type battery).

Though just a rough estimate based on previous comments from Ford, the Standard Range battery size is predicted to be about 51 kWh. Ford mentioned that the Fathom battery capacity would be about 15% less than that of the BYD Atto. The Atto 3 has 60.5 kWh of usable energy, so we calculate the Fathom at around 51 kWh.

With just a 51 kWh battery, the base Fathom will likely have a range of less than 220 miles, potentially closer to 200 miles, though this is just speculation at this point.

Ford has mentioned that a 300-mile Fathom will come, but that surely isn’t the 51-kWh Standard Range version.

Charging

The Ford Fathom has a 400-volt LFP battery system and 48-volt auxiliary electrical architecture.

DC fast charging will be NACS. AC charging will also be NACS. Earlier this year, Ford was spotted testing its mid-size electric pickup trucks at Tesla Superchargers.

The NACS charging port is located on the rear-left (driver’s side). This makes it compatible with Tesla’s current Supercharger setup.

Availibility

Ford says that the full reveal of the Fathom will occur in early 2027. We expect additional details to leak out as the debut date draws near.

Pre-orders will open up when the debut happens in early 2027.

First deliveries of the Fathom are set for later in 2027.
