After conquering China’s crowded EV market, Xiaomi is preparing the infrastructure needed to make its European debut more than a showroom announcement.

Chinese company Xiaomi is preparing to launch its electric vehicles on the European market in 2027. To this end, the manufacturer has already signed letters of intent with automotive dealer groups. Potential partners are expected to help establish a network of service centers and showrooms.

This is reported by dpa.

Xiaomi’s international expansion plans were announced during the IFA technology exhibition in Berlin. Yu Liguo, vice president of Xiaomi’s automotive division and head of its international business, described the European market as a strategic area for long-term investment.

Xiaomi’s automotive division views Europe as a long-term investment opportunity. Local dealer partners, together with the company’s research center in Munich, will play a key role in ensuring a successful entry into this market.

Xiaomi’s Electric Vehicle Success in China

Since sales of the SU7 sports sedan began in spring 2024, Xiaomi has delivered more than 700,000 vehicles to Chinese customers. The new YU7 SUV attracted over 240,000 pre-orders within the first 18 hours after its unveiling.

The SU7 has also become one of China’s most popular sedans in the price segment of around €24,000. These results have laid the foundation for the company’s further expansion in the automotive sector.

Why Xiaomi Delayed Its Entry into the European Market

The manufacturer was previously in no rush to launch sales in Europe because its production capacity was fully occupied by domestic demand. At the same time, Xiaomi has already been showcasing the capabilities of its electric vehicles in Germany.

The sporty SU7 Ultra version set a lap record for production luxury electric vehicles at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The YU7 GT SUV also completed a lap of the track using autonomous mode.

The automotive business has become one of Xiaomi’s key growth areas alongside smartphone production. Electric vehicles are part of the “Human x Car x Home” ecosystem strategy, which calls for the integration of cars, smartphones, and connected household devices.

To bring these products together, the company uses its own operating system and artificial intelligence-powered applications. If the plans go ahead, Xiaomi will begin building its dealership and service infrastructure in Europe in 2027, marking an important stage in the brand’s global development.
